Haitian Food Insecurity
According to the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC), 4.35 million people in Haiti are experiencing high levels of acute food insecurity between August 2023 and February 2024 with 1.4 million people classified in IPC Phase 4 (Emergency) and around 2.95 million people are in IPC Phase 3 (Crisis). No humanitarian food assistance has been confirmed for the projected period of March to June 2024, therefore, it is estimated the number of people in Phase 3 will likely increase to 3.03 million (31 percent of the population) – bringing the total population in need of urgent action to 45 percent.

What We Do
The 2021 UNICEF report on Haiti showed that 820,000 children were at risk of malnutrition.
CFAH started as a program to help small farmers and small businesses in Haiti. We provide small micro-loans with zero interest for farmers and those who run small businesses. Online meetings are held weekly between the board members in the USA and those in Haiti and the projects are evaluated. An application is used to evaluate each candidate and we do not discriminate in applicants in any way. An interview is held with at least two officers or board members present. An online meeting is set for a complete review and approval for all board members and officers.
Once a project is approved, the borrower signs a contract with a payment plan at zero percent interest. During the loan period (normally 12 months or less), experienced businessmen on the board continue to provide support for these farmers and businesses. Moral and technical support are provided for the life of the loan to increase success rate. Board members in Haiti oversee the loan details.
